I love this book series with a passion. I am very much in love with several of the characters and it disappoints me time and time again that they are fictional. This book did not disappoint in any way. It was tamer than some of her previous novels that is for sure. My heart broke for Micah. Since his introduction to the series, Micah has been a personal favorite. I am sure it was because he was so broken, yet strong in the beginning.
This book we are heading to Ted's (Edward) wedding to Donna. I never thought we would get there. Ireland was rough on the crew. They lost one of their own. It broke a part of Anita. Micah has a case down in Florida where the wedding is. Anita, Micah and Nathaniel travel to Florida for the wedding. Right away there is some contention in lovers paradise. Anita and Micah head off to work on the case and leave Nathaniel behind. Nathaniel acts out a bit with one of Anita's brides. Slowly the thruple tries to get things to work out. Until the next morning when the police come knocking at the door. Soon there is a whole investigation that almost derails the wedding.
I loved how much this book focused on the core relationships. Nathaniel and Micah are really growing as a couple together. I love that they are going to marry each other. I could completely understand and relate to Nathaniel's jealousy of Micah's and Anita's work. They are both consumed by their occupations. It can leave a person feeling very unloved and alone. I do love how hard they both tried to show him that they do love him.
This book was interesting as it had a few different monsters to deal with. Of course we had the cop who was using his abilities to close his cases. Then we also had the poor cursed family whose bodies would turn into serpents. After all that we have Olaf back. He turned into a were lion a book or two ago. He is the scariest of them all. I do not know that Anita could take him out without loosing another one of her family if not more. That makes Anita very fearful. She toys a very thin line with him.
